Diets go hand in
hand with the correct training. It almost useless to do a diet and then to still
keep your normal day to day life. In my life I have done lots of diet, some to
lose weight other times to add weight, depending in which type of weight
category I would decide to compete in.
First you have to decide what is your goal, ex. to lose 5kgs etc. then sit down
and decide for how long are you going to keep the diet, (never try to keep the
diet for ever, it won't work, and when you will break the diet you will feel
depressed and it will harder to begin any other new diet in the future).
Also every 6 or 7 days in your diet plan you should allow one day where you can
eat any thing, like pizza, burgers, pasta, after all we are human beings and we
need that little 'junk food' every now and then. On the other hand during your
diet do not find excuses to eat junk food, except on your chosen days that
should not be less then 6/7 days apart, ex. lots of my students excuse for
breaking the diet is that they were partying with friends and they just ate one
piece of cake, don't do it, from one piece today it will come two piece next
week etc. When you feel the temptation (and you will feel it sooner or later)
just remember your goal, think what is most important for you, is it to eat the
cake now or feeling good with your body in summer (or whatever is your goal).
You have to decide, you have to make the choice.
The saying 'we are what we eat' is 100% true in fact I should also add to it 'we
are also what we drink'. Beer and alcoholic drinks won't just give you a beer
belly but it will also reduce your reflexes, thinking capacity, on long terms
also your sexual ability. The best drink is water, drink lots of it. Also try to
avoid soft drinks, they are full of sugars by the way also most of the sugar
free stuff is bad for your body. The second best thing to drink are energizer
drinks.
Then again training will play a good part of your diet. Choose your training
program accordingly to your goals. It useless to choose a training program that
a pro person does. Begin slowly, and add new exercises along the way.
A big mistake that many do is when you begin training somewhere and you see a
person that have been there for a long time and you copy his/her training
program, remember that is what s/he is doing NOW, his/her body have been
condition during long years. You have to copy his/her training program of when
s/he was still a beginner. Many people, if asked properly, will show you their
old training programs, when they were still new at the game.
Therefore it is important when choosing your diet and training program for the next 6 months or as long as you wish to keep in mind what are your goals, what do you expect to achieve from your program. Remember to aim high but on the other hand do not imagine that you can achieve everything fast, it takes time. Just stick with it. There will be good and bad times. There will be times when you will see yourself improving fast others when you will feel that you are not doing any progress at all. Do not worry it happens to the best of us.
